API 1169 Certification

Pipeline Construction Inspector

To assist personnel prepare for the examination, Liberty has partnered with Velocity Training. This is an on-line comprehensive review of the reference documents upon which the exam is based.

As most are undoubtedly aware, the American Petroleum Institute (API) completed the first Pipeline Inspector certification program in 2014, which is referred to as API 1169. The certification program was developed in cooperation with industry experts in order to establish an industry-wide credential for the inspection of new construction of on-shore pipelines. As API is not a regulatory agency, the Certification program is not required by law; however; most if not all of our energy related clients are adopting a policy to require certification for ALL inspection staff working on their projects, effective in 2018. Many clients are already giving preference to hiring inspectors who have obtained this certification.
